BE CAREFUL – Supreme Court Justice Warns!
Justice Neil Gorsuch suggested that President Joe Biden should “be careful” with his proposal to reform the Supreme Court. The justice made the remarks in a recent interview.
The proposal, which encompasses term limits, an enforceable ethics code, and an effort to amend presidential immunity, was discussed during an interview with “Fox News Sunday” anchor Shannon Bream.
“Shannon, you are not going to be surprised that I’m not going to get into what’s now a political issue during a presidential election year. I don’t think that would be helpful.” Gorsuch responded. “I have one thought to add: It is what the independent judiciary means — what does it mean to you as an American? It means that when you are unpopular, you can get a fair hearing under the law and under the Constitution. If you are in the majority, you don’t need judges and juries to hear you and protect your rights. You are popular! It’s there for the moments when the spotlight is on you, when the government’s coming after you. And don’t you want a ferociously independent judge and a jury of your peers to make those decisions? Isn’t that your right as an American? And so I just say, be careful.”

One of Biden’s Supreme Court proposals includes a term limit for sitting justices. Vice President Kamala Harris, who is running for the November presidential election, supports the president’s proposal. According to The Daily Wire, the president released his proposal last week after he ended his re-election bid.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has shown some willingness to consider parts of Biden’s proposed overhaul through legislation. However, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) dismissed the plan, labeling it as “dead on arrival.”

“Biden’s proposal to radically overhaul the U.S. Supreme Court would tilt the balance of power and erode not only the rule of law, but the American people’s faith in our system of justice,” Johnson said in a post on X. “This proposal is the logical conclusion to the Biden-Harris Administration and Congressional Democrats’ ongoing efforts to delegitimize the Supreme Court.”
The speaker also warned that Democrats may soon start calling for expanding and packing the Supreme Court.
