Hollywood actor Wendell Pierce expressed strong disapproval of President-elect Donald Trump’s decision to nominate Fox News personality Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense, taking his criticism to social media platform X.
On Tuesday, Trump revealed his selection of Hegseth, highlighting the nominee’s extensive background. “Pete is tough, smart and a true believer in America First. With Pete at the helm, America’s enemies are on notice — Our Military will be Great Again, and America will Never Back Down. Pete is a graduate of Princeton University, and has a Graduate Degree from Harvard University,” said Trump.
How’s that? Why wouldn’t a 20 year combat veteran, 2 times bronze star recipient be epitome of the “white privilege”? Because he’s white? Or because he’s a “Major”? Do we need these clowns instead? pic.twitter.com/iR3D6kLeRI

“He is an Army Combat Veteran who did tours in Guantanamo Bay, Iraq, and Afghanistan. For his actions on the battlefield, he was decorated with two Bronze Stars, as well as a Combat Infantryman’s Badge.”
Trump emphasized Hegseth’s dedication to veterans’ rights and his efforts to reform government bureaucracy affecting veteran services.
Pierce, recognized for his performances in The Wire, Suits, and Amazon’s Jack Ryan, denounced the nomination on X, formerly Twitter, declaring the move “That is UNAMERICAN.”
Pete Hegseth is a forged in fire real life 20 year-military hero, 2 bronze stars, with tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. You’re just fake and only play a bada$$ on TV. Also, he doesn’t beat up women like you did for having different political opinions. pic.twitter.com/VZP0YKCQGX

The actor’s reaction mirrors widespread concern among Hollywood celebrities regarding Trump’s anticipated return to the White House. Entertainment figures have displayed intense emotional responses, including ABC host Jimmy Kimmel, who became visibly distressed upon realizing the Democratic party’s diminishing prospects in the 2024 presidential race.
