In her revealing memoir “Say Everything,” actress Ione Skye opens up about her diverse romantic history, including relationships with both men and women throughout her life. The “Say Anything” star chronicles her first significant relationship at age 16 with Red Hot Chili Peppers singer Anthony Kiedis, who was 24 at the time.

Before connecting with Kiedis, Skye attempted to catch the attention of Keanu Reeves while filming “River’s Edge” in 1986. She also shared a passionate on-screen kiss with River Phoenix during “A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon,” though nothing developed due to his relationship with Martha Plimpton.

Upon meeting Anthony Kiedis, who had recently completed rehabilitation for heroin addiction, their connection was instantaneous. As Skye recalls, “We were instantly full-blown, instantly emeshed.”

However, Kiedis’s sobriety proved short-lived. “Right away, he started disappearing on binges – slow-motion heroin rampages that lasted for three days or so…the binges terrified me,” she writes. Skye would often spend nights searching known drug locations for him.

During the filming of “Say Anything,” Skye began distancing herself from Kiedis and developed unrequited feelings for costar John Cusack. Years later, following her divorce, they did have a brief encounter, though Skye realized “now I knew we were meant to be in love only in the movies.”

At 18, Skye encountered what she describes as her first profound love, Beastie Boys member Adam Horovitz. They met through her brother, Donovan Leitch, and shared what Skye remembers as a “terribly romantic” first kiss. They married when she was 21 and he was 25.

Despite their deep connection and friendship, Skye struggled with faithfulness. “I was a serial cheater,” she admits, attributing it to “obvious sign of my deep insecurity and need for validation.”

Her extramarital relationships included model Alice Temple, Ingrid Casares, and Jenny Shimizu. Describing Shimizu, Skye writes that she was a “masterful lover, sometimes a dominant one. She didn’t use whips or handcuff me to the bed, she just held this vibe.” Their encounters included intimate experimentation, with Skye using “London” as her safe word.

After her marriage to Horovitz ended, Skye had a daughter, Kate, with furniture designer David Netto in 2001. She ultimately found lasting happiness with Australian musician Ben Lee, whom she married in 2008. They welcomed their daughter Goldie the following year.
