DNC Secretary Slammed For Laughing About Immigrant Crime

Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum confronted former Democratic National Committee (DNC) press secretary Jose Aristimuno on Friday for laughing during a discussion about crimes committed by illegal immigrants.

MacCallum referenced a Wednesday letter from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which reported that over 435,000 non-citizens had been convicted of crimes in the U.S. as of July 2024.

“Jose, these are awful numbers. I’m sure you don’t want to know some of these 13,000 who have committed murder or 15,000 who have committed sexual assault are in your neighborhood or anywhere near your family,” MacCallum stated.

Aristimuno acknowledged the issue but shifted the blame to former President Donald Trump, prompting criticism from OutKick founder Clay Travis, who called it an “exceptionally stupid argument,” leading Aristimuno to laugh.

MacCallum clarified, “Trump is referring to gangsters and criminals, not all immigrants,” but Aristimuno disagreed, arguing, “They want to deport people that look like me simply because you are Latino.”

He continued, stating that President Biden’s immigration bill was blocked by Republicans, while MacCallum asserted that presidents have the power to seal the border and issue executive orders to address the situation.

Travis chimed in, saying, “Did Jose just say it’s Donald Trump’s fault that Kamala Harris and Joe Biden have let in 13,000 known murderers and 16,000 known rapists? This is the dumbest argument ever made in the history of Fox News.”

This prompted laughter from Aristimuno, to which MacCallum responded, “There’s nothing funny about any of this… There’s nothing funny here.”

Additionally, MacCallum referenced Vice President Kamala Harris’s recent comments about her plans to address illegal immigration, during which she focused on Trump’s opposition to a bipartisan border bill she pledged to sign into law if elected president.

This bill would have allocated over $700 million to hire additional U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers, but it included a provision that would keep the border open if fewer than 5,000 migrants crossed per day.
