Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei delivered a stern message to the United States during his annual Nowruz address, cautioning that any aggressive actions against Iran would be met with fierce resistance.

Speaking during his televised Persian New Year speech, Khamenei emphasized that American intimidation tactics would prove ineffective against Iran. “The Americans should know threats will get them nowhere when confronting Iran,” he declared, adding that “and others should know that if they do anything malign to the Iranian nation, they will get a hard slap.”

This forceful rhetoric follows a pattern of ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States, with Tehran regularly issuing strong statements against both American interests and Israel.

The heightened tensions come after President Trump’s recent communication with Khamenei, in which he sought negotiations regarding Iran’s nuclear program while simultaneously suggesting the possibility of military intervention if diplomacy failed.

Responding to Trump’s letter, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi characterized the communication as primarily threatening in nature, though he acknowledged it contained potential diplomatic openings. According to Araghchi, Iranian leadership is currently formulating their official response, which will be released shortly.

This diplomatic exchange follows Khamenei’s previous dismissals of Trump’s negotiation attempts, with the Supreme Leader accusing the American president of trying to manipulate global opinion by portraying the United States as the willing negotiator and Iran as the resistant party.

The situation reflects the continuing implementation of Trump’s hardline approach toward Tehran, as he maintains his “maximum pressure” strategy during his second presidential term.
