Nashville Mom Shoots, Kills Daughter By Accident

A Tennessee mother lost her teenage daughter to a gunshot. However, it turned out that she shot and killed her own daughter by accident, according to police.

The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said that DeAnn Radley called authorities at about 10 p.m. on Saturday. She told police that she was searching for her keys when she accidentally pushed the trigger on her loaded .40-caliber semi-automatic pistol.

The gun discharged and shot through her purse, going on to hit 13-year–old Dearria Radley, per police.

Dearria was reportedly rushed to the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital emergency room where she succumbed to her wounds from a single gunshot.

Speaking to local NBC affiliate WSMV, Radley said that her world is “falling apart.”

“I loved that little girl so much,” he stated.

In an interview with News 2, she said, “Losing her. Losing her. No parent wants to bury their child and this is hard; it is hard and my heart is broken in a million pieces. It’s very hard. I just want to hold my baby.”

Describing how she has felt after the tragic incident, she added, Hurt. I feel I felt like my world, my world is falling apart. I feel empty inside, empty. Like I tell everybody, you don’t know pain until you lose a child and that pain is a whole different type of pain and that pain will never go away.”

She, however, refused to share details of the night the incident happened.

Police are yet to pursue any charges in the case.
