Trump Ready to Fight Court Over Israel Warrants

The Trump administration is preparing to confront the International Criminal Court (ICC) with sanctions following its issuance of arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
The ICC’s action against Israeli leadership occurred Thursday, citing alleged war crimes in Gaza during Israel’s response to Hamas’s deadly attack last year. This development follows President Biden’s May decision to reverse Trump’s previous executive order targeting the ICC.

The warrant applications were filed by ICC prosecutor Karim Khan, who is currently facing allegations of sexual misconduct. Khan also sought warrants for Palestinian terrorists, all of whom have been eliminated by Israeli forces.
According to Kan Reshet Bet, an Israeli media outlet cited by 7 Israel National News, Trump’s team is already taking action, despite being months away from inauguration.
Washington sources revealed to the outlet that the proposed sanctions might extend beyond the prosecutor to include the judges who issued the warrants. Some advocates suggest expanding these measures to encompass family members of court officials responsible for the arrest warrants.
The ICC’s decision to treat Israeli leaders similarly to Hamas terrorists follows Biden’s elimination of sanctions against the ICC for such investigations. The administration offered minimal opposition to ICC chief Khan’s actions.

Israeli officials suspected the Biden administration of using potential ICC warrants as leverage to influence Israel’s policies, particularly regarding the pursuit of Hamas terrorists in Rafah.
Trump’s Executive Order 13928, issued in June 2020, imposed sanctions on ICC officials investigating U.S. and allied forces’ military actions against terrorists.
Upon taking office, Biden revoked Trump’s order. The Democratic administration, promoting their “America is back” message, sought to enhance international relations by legitimizing the ICC’s authority.
