Trump wrongly claims military controls California water supply

President Trump made a bold claim on social media about deploying military forces to address California’s water situation amid ongoing wildfires in the state.

In a nighttime post on Truth Social, Trump declared, “The United States Military just entered the Great State of California and, under Emergency Powers, TURNED ON THE WATER flowing abundantly from the Pacific Northwest, and beyond. The days of putting a Fake Environmental argument, over the PEOPLE, are OVER. Enjoy the water, California!!!”

However, state officials quickly disputed the former president’s statement. The California Department of Water Resources took to X to clarify the situation, stating, “The federal government restarted federal water pumps after they were offline for maintenance for three days. State water supplies in Southern California remain plentiful.” They explicitly noted that the “military did not enter California.”

This incident follows a pattern of Trump’s criticism towards California’s leadership, particularly Governor Gavin Newsom and other state officials. The former president has repeatedly accused them of restricting water supplies while the Los Angeles region battles devastating wildfires that have transformed parts of the area into a blazing crisis zone.
