A Large Leftist Benefactor Comments on How ‘Advanced in Age’ Biden Is
Large Benefactor Comments on BIDEN’S OLD AGE
In 2019, a former South Carolina Democrat lawmaker, who had contributed thousands of dollars to President Biden’s reelection campaign, issued a warning regarding Biden’s advanced age while endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris’s unsuccessful bid for the presidency.
While acting as a surrogate for the Harris campaign in 2019, Bakari Sellers said to Politico, “Joe Biden has been running for president since before I was born.”
“Joe Biden is nearly 80 years old, and he’s running to be president of the United States,” Sellers stated. “My dad was president of an HBCU and will be 75 this year, and his doctors told him he couldn’t do it anymore.”
According to Sellers, a CNN political analyst who was a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2006 to 2014, his father, who presided over Voorhees College, a historically black college in South Carolina, for seven years, “didn’t have the energy and strength to lead that campus anymore.” It “doesn’t mean he wasn’t a great man, a great leader, and a great visionary,” he continued.
He went on, “It’s a justified conversation.” Sellers, a maxed-out donor who gave $10,000 to the Biden Victory Fund and $6,600 to Biden’s reelection campaign last year, has been defending Biden against age-related criticisms on multiple occasions in recent weeks. This week, he called it “patently absurd” to be discussing a Parkinson’s specialist visiting the White House.
In response to Biden’s hour-long news conference on Thursday night, Sellers wrote on X that the senator was “doing well” and reshared a post by medical professional and NBC pundit Vin Gupta that supported Biden’s press conference.
“[Biden] demonstrated tonight that he continues to function at a high level for his age,” Gupta stated. Indeed, he made mistakes, something he has consistently done in his career. After a series of challenging questions, however, the substance was there, ably exhibiting a range of expertise. Excellent work.”
“Biden would have to step down in addition to refraining from running. Which is not the case at all,” Sellers stated last week. Any piece about his age that ignores the reality that he is a successful nonpartisan appointed a black woman to the Supreme Court, and revived the economy after COVID is a sentimental farce. Since it’s evident that he can perform the duties of the President even at his advanced age.”
