Harris Campaign Starts Screening Potential VP Candidates

Harris SNUBS Potential Running-Mate

Vice President Kamala Harris started screening prospective running mates and has sent documents to a number of them in an attempt to get them to join her on the ticket. Among them was not the well-liked Democratic governor of a state that is consistently red.

In order to conduct due diligence, the Harris campaign submitted screening materials to the governors of North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Michigan, and Minnesota. Sen. Mark Kelly, a Democrat from Arizona, and Governor Tim Walz, as per a Wall Street Journal article.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, who many have predicted could be a front-runner for the position, was noticeably absent from the list. Beshear, who told CNN on Monday that he would support the ticket if it helped advance the interests of the people of Kentucky, is one of the few members of the group who have expressed interest in perhaps taking on the position.

“The only reason I’d ever consider something else is if I felt that I could help my people in Kentucky more in a different role or that there was a chance to move past the partisanship, the constant fighting,” Beshear stated.

When questioned by CNN, Beshear did, however, also admit that he had not been provided any screening materials, telling the news organization that he had “not been personally asked to submit information at this point.”

In the meantime, inquiries concerning their willingness to join the ticket have been sidestepped by other possible running mates. While endorsing Harris, Cooper, Shapiro, Pritzker, and Kelly did not indicate that they would be interested in taking over as vice president.

“I couldn’t be more confident that Vice President Kamala Harris is the right person to defeat Donald Trump and lead our country into the future,” Kelly wrote in an article on X. “She has my support for the nomination, and Gabby and I will do everything we can to elect her President of the United States.”

When asked about his interest, Pritzker told MSNBC, “I love being the governor of the state of Illinois, and I’ve been out on the campaign trail fighting hard for Democrats to win.”

Shapiro responded to the source, “Our conversation was all about how we beat Donald Trump and protect our freedoms here in this commonwealth,” when asked if he and Harris had discussed Harris’s potential ticket.

Whitmer, on the other hand, made the most adamant denial that she would be interested in joining the ticket, claiming on social media that she is “not planning to go anywhere.”

She declared, “I’m not leaving Michigan,” on X. “Being the governor of Michigan makes me proud. I’ve been reliable. I’m not going anywhere, even though I know that everyone is constantly being suspicious and asking the same questions. I realize that you’re doing your job.”

A request for comment from Fox News Digital was not immediately answered by the Harris campaign.
