Vice President Kamala Harris refrained from extending the customary congratulatory phone call to former President and now President-Elect Donald Trump following his comeback victory.

Fox News declared Trump the winner on Wednesday morning after his triumph in Pennsylvania. Trump addressed his supporters at Mar-a-Lago around 2:30 a.m. ET, delivering what amounted to a victory speech.

NBC News correspondent Yamiche Alcindor reported that Harris’s aides were coming to terms with the loss. She stated on MSNBC, “The vice president hasn’t conceded, NBC hasn’t called this race yet. But we are in this situation now where Harris aides and people close to her are definitely making the move toward, ‘How are we going to work with the Trump administration?'”

Despite this acknowledgment, there was no indication that Harris had reached out to Trump.

Other major news outlets, including The Associated Press, CNN, and MSNBC, didn’t call the race for Trump until nearly 6 a.m. ET.

Harris’s decision not to call Trump followed her early departure from her election night event at Howard University, where she also broke with tradition by not delivering any remarks, as reported by Breitbart News.

In contrast, Trump used his speech to call for national unity, stating, “Success is going to bring us together, and we are going to start by all putting America first.”
