During a recent appearance on influencer Quenlin Blackwell’s cooking show, rapper Lil Yachty openly criticized Black Lives Matter (BLM), describing the organization as fraudulent.

The conversation took an unexpected turn when Blackwell inquired about Yachty’s charitable contributions for the year. When Yachty appeared hesitant to respond, Blackwell specifically asked about any donations to BLM.

Without hesitation, Yachty declared BLM a scam, prompting a startled Blackwell to suggest the statement should be shared with news outlets. Yachty continued his criticism, mentioning the organization’s controversial property purchases and suggesting there were aspects of the situation unknown to many.

His comments referenced the 2022 controversy involving BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors, who acknowledged using the organization’s $6 million property for private gatherings after stepping down from her position due to questions about financial management.

“One of those events took place in January 2021, where she apparently sought ‘refuge at the property amid threats on her life.’ However, at that time, she chose to host an inauguration party celebrating the election of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, along with roughly 15 people, ‘including BLM Los Angeles chapter members and other prominent movement supporters,'” according to the AP.

Later, Cullors hosted her son’s birthday celebration at the same property, claiming she planned to compensate the foundation with a rental fee.

Further financial scrutiny revealed substantial payments to family members through IRS tax filings. The documentation showed nearly $970,000 was paid to a company owned by Damon Turner, the father of Cullors’ child, for event production and creative services.
