Lara Trump Says Hunter Verdict Is A Distraction

Republican National Committee co-chair Lara Trump is convinced that Hunter Biden’s guilty verdict in his gun trial on Tuesday was meant to distract Americans from much more serious corruption going on in President Joe Biden’s family.

Trump made the assertion during an interview on Tuesday night, saying, “Everybody knows what this trial with Hunter Biden was about. This is about smoke and mirrors, this is the red herring, this is a distraction from what you’ve talked about the entire show, which is that it’s not just criminality we’re worried about with the Biden family. It’s national security.”

“We’re concerned about, we need to know as American citizens, that when Joe Biden, as President of the United States, is making decisions for this country, he’s made decisions based on what’s best for the American people and not what’s best for the bank account of the Biden family,” she added.

Contrasting the Trump’s family with the Biden family’s foreign business dealings, Trump continued, “If you think back to when Donald Trump won the election in 2016, think about what our family business was: We were a private company that had real estate and golf courses around the world.”

“We were in international business originally. Yet, what did we do? We said, you know what, when he won, we’re not going to do any new international business deals. The opposite of that happened when Joe Biden became Vice President of the United States. That’s when the Biden family got into international business,” she added.

Trump went on to point out that the contents of Hunter’s laptop, which she described as a “treasure trove” of damaging information on the Biden family, were proven to be authentic during the trial.

She went on to call for transparency, saying, “The American people are demanding transparency.”

On Tuesday, Hunter was convicted on all three counts in his gun-related trial, in which prosecutors accused him of making a false claim on a federal firearms background check form, lying to a federally licensed firearms dealer, and being in possession of an illegally obtained firearm.

The idea that the conviction is a sham to cover up a much more sinister crime has been raised by others, including former President Donald Trump’s campaign and Former Republican presidential primary candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.

Trump campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said in a prepared statement that the trial “has been nothing more than a distraction from the real crimes of the Biden Crime Family, which has raked in tens of millions of dollars from China, Russia and Ukraine.”

“Crooked Joe Biden’s reign over the Biden Family Criminal Empire is all coming to an end on November 5th, and never again will a Biden sell government access for personal profit,” she added.

In a video message posted on X, Ramaswamy argued that the case “avoids accountability for the Biden crime family on the actual things that Hunter Biden should have been charged for, like for example, peddling foreign influence while his actual father, Joe Biden, was the vice president of the United States.”

He also pointed out that the verdict was intended to legitimize Trump’s conviction, as he noted the close timings of the verdicts.
