Republican Leslie Lewallen Suggested That GOP Vote to Impeach Trump

Washington Republican SUPPORTED Trump’s Impeachment

In December 2023, Republican candidate Leslie Lewallen for Washington’s third congressional district stated that anti-Trump former Representative Jaime Herrera Beutler had “good reason” to vote in favor of impeaching the former president.

In order to challenge Democratic battleground representative Marie Glusenkamp Perez (D-WA), Lewallen intends to win the Republican nomination.

However, Green Beret veteran Joe Kent, who received Trump’s endorsement in the previous campaign, is getting closer to winning the district’s August 6th primary. Kent lost by fewer than three thousand votes. With Trump heading the ticket, Kent is vying for the nomination once more and has a good chance of flipping the district.

In an episode of unDivided with Brandi Kruse from December 2023, Lewallen said that Kent was the “wrong person at the wrong time with the wrong message.”

She made an effort to counter accusations that she is a Republican in Name Only, or “RINO.”

She did, however, clarify in the same podcast that Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-WA), one of the 10 House Republicans who voted in favor of impeaching former President Donald Trump in 2021, had good grounds for doing so.

Regarding Herrera Buetler’s vote to remove Trump from office, Lewallen stated, “I personally did not have a problem with her.” Lewallen continued, “I had to think that she had a good reason for voting the way that she did.”

Then, according to Brandi Kruse, Trump seems to be the current front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination. Next, the podcast presenter inquired about Lewallen’s preference for Trump to be the presidential nominee.

Lewallen sidesteps the topic and goes on to say that she was “pleased” with the other Republican presidential contenders, including Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) and former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley.

The third district Republican candidate for Washington stated that she could put the past president behind her thanks to Trump’s support of Kent. But Lewallen now appears to be pro-Trump, given that Trump is the presumed nominee for president.

She wrote in May, “Trump is right! Get your ballots turned in and let’s make 2024 a historic year for the GOP!” Unlike Lewallen, Kent has continuously supported Trump’s foreign policy agenda.

In an interview with Kristina Wong of Breitbart News in June 2021, he talked about how he would confront the “permanent ruling class” that is causing internal harm to America.

Instead of “not having a problem” with Herrera Beutler, like in Lewallen’s case, Kent said that the former Republican congresswoman is “totally Chamber of Commerce.”

“She’s a complete corporatist … If you look at her donations report, she gets very little money in individual contributions. Everything she gets is a corporate paycheck,” Kent told Breitbart News in March 2022. “So she is completely beholden to the $5,000 political action committee (PAC) checks and then the Super-PAC money that comes in from the special interest groups. So, yeah, she’s totally Chamber of Commerce.”
