Texas DPS agents successfully apprehended a human smuggler and ten undocumented immigrants following an intense pursuit in La Salle County along IH-35, amid the ongoing border security challenges.

The perpetrator, identified as Kevin Cruz Diaz, an undocumented immigrant from El Salvador, attempted to evade authorities through dangerous driving maneuvers. Law enforcement ultimately detained him after deploying tire deflation devices on his Ford F-150 pickup truck.

Border Patrol took custody of the passengers, who originated from Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala.

This incident follows recent DPS surveillance operations, including drone monitoring of individuals crossing the Rio Grande by raft.

Operation Lone Star, initiated by Governor Greg Abbott in 2021, has proven effective in combating unauthorized border crossings and drug trafficking, particularly fentanyl. The collaborative efforts of Texas DPS and the National Guard have been crucial in addressing border security concerns that emerged during the current administration.

Article IV, Section 4 of the Constitution states: “The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.”

Since early 2021, estimates suggest approximately 15 million undocumented immigrants have entered the country, though precise figures remain unclear due to undetected crossings.

Donald Trump has committed to addressing border security immediately upon potential reinstatement to office.
