Trump And RFK JR. Moves Closer To November Partnership

Republican presidential nominee former President Donald Trump indicated this week that he would consider having Robert F. Kennedy Jr. serve in his administration if he wins a second term this fall.

Trump’s comments followed reports that Kennedy had attempted to reach out to Vice President Kamala Harris’ “highest intermediaries,” proposing to drop out of the race and endorse her campaign in exchange for a cabinet position. However, Harris’ team reportedly showed “no interest in talking.” After being turned down, Kennedy criticized both Harris and the Democratic Party.

In a later interview, Trump told CNN that he likes and respects RFK Jr.

“He’s a brilliant guy. He’s a very smart guy. I’ve known him for a very long time,” Trump said. “I didn’t know he was thinking about getting out, but if he is thinking about getting out, certainly I’d be open to it.”

Trump expressed that he would “love” to receive an endorsement from Kennedy, stating that he has “always liked” him.

He further suggested that he “probably would” appoint Kennedy to a position in his administration if Kennedy were to drop out of the race and endorse him.

“I like him a lot. I respect him a lot,” Trump said. “I probably would, if something like that would happen. He’s a very different kind of a guy — a very smart guy. And, yeah, I would be honored by that endorsement, certainly.”

Although Kennedy has been a lifelong Democrat, he has been more critical of his own party than of the Republican Party throughout the election.

On Tuesday, RFK Jr. continued his criticisms by calling out the Democratic Party for attempting to rebrand itself as the “party of liberty.”

“Kamala Harris says that Americans should make personal decisions without the ‘government telling them what to do.’ Tim Walz’s Golden Rule is ‘Mind your own damn business,’” he posted on X. “In view of the censorship, surveillance, vaccine mandates, and the confederacy of fixers openly working to prevent me from getting on ballots, this is like the arsonist telling us he’s a firefighter.”
