Trump’s PODCAST Tour shocks Liberal Host

“The View” co-host Sara Haines remarked on Monday that Republican nominee Donald Trump is demonstrating his concern for young voters by appearing on several popular podcasts aimed at this demographic.

Haines noted that Trump’s “podcast tour” is reaching large audiences of young voters who do not engage with traditional media, which she believes will positively impact the former president.

In contrast, Vice President Kamala Harris, who has faced criticism for her limited media appearances, had her first and only sit-down interview on Aug. 29 with CNN host Dana Bash, a month after launching her presidential campaign.

“Donald Trump is doing something that was just brought to my attention this weekend,” Haines said. “He’s on a podcast tour, like with some pretty crazy people, but the reach of these podcasts is massive. They’re getting millions of hits … he is hitting them all and they’re talking about what you’d expect from him, nothing. But the important point is here is that those people who are watching are mostly geared toward young people, so they’re not watching CNN, Fox, The View. They’re on podcasts. So whether they agree or not, because these aren’t political podcasts, so this isn’t like a conservative group of people, they’re seeing that he cares enough to show up and be there, and I think it’s having an effect somewhat with these young people.”

Trump appeared on comedian Theo Von’s podcast on Aug. 21, discussing a variety of topics, including Harris, addiction, martial arts, and pop culture.

This episode received 13 million views as of Monday. He also appeared on computer scientist Lex Fridman’s podcast on Sept. 3, which garnered 4.7 million views.

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin stated that Harris needs to participate in more interviews to reach voters, especially with the presidential race being a “toss-up” heading into November.

“I would encourage the vice president, she’s busy, do more interviews. Voters need to hear more from her, they want to know more. 28% of voters said they feel like they need to learn a little bit more about her and her policies. Come on ‘The View,’ go on CNN, do local press. That matters,” Griffin said.

Co-host Whoopi Goldberg suggested that Harris is too busy campaigning and preparing for the Sept. 10 debate to find time for interviews.

Harris’ campaign communications director, Michael Tyler, had stated on Aug. 14 that Harris planned to do an interview by the end of that month but did not commit to holding a press conference. In contrast, Trump held two press conferences in August, where he fielded questions from a variety of media outlets.

Harris participated in a pre-taped interview on CNN with her running mate, Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, during which they answered questions for under 30 minutes. Harris did not address why many of her policy positions have shifted since her time as a U.S. senator and her 2020 presidential campaign.
