Biden Facing Backlash From Trump, Others Over Trans Visibility Day

Former President Donald Trump’s campaign is demanding an apology from President Joe Biden after he sparked fury over his declaration of March 31 as “Transgender Day of Visibility.”

The backlash the president has suffered since he made the declaration has been because of of what is seen as a disrespect to Easter Sunday, which is a commemoration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ among Christians.

Trump’s national press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, slammed Biden’s move to proclaim Easter Sunday as “Trans Day of Visibility,” calling it “appalling and insulting.”

According to Leavitt, Biden’s proclamation is an example of the Biden admin’s “years-long assault on the Christian faith.”

“We call on Joe Biden’s failing campaign and the White House to issue an apology to the millions of Catholics and Christians across America who believe tomorrow is for one celebration only — the resurrection of Jesus Christ,” Leavitt said.

Aside from Leavitt, several conservatives have spoken out against the president’s disrespect on Christianity.

In a post to X, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) wrote, “The Biden White House has betrayed the central tenet of Easter — which is the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Referring to the White House’s decision to ban religious egg designs in its annual Easter Art Event, Johnson added, Banning sacred truth and tradition—while at the same time proclaiming Easter Sunday as ‘Transgender Day’—is outrageous and abhorrent. The American people are taking note.”

Anti-woke businessman an former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy also criticized the president on X, writing, “Joe Biden just proclaimed that ‘Transgender Visibility Day’ is on Sunday, March 31st. I wonder how he came up with that date.”

Rep. Alex Mooney (R-WV) also commented on the timing of the declaration. “Joe Biden has proclaimed Easter Sunday as “Transgender Day of Visibility. What a coincidence on the timing, right? This is a direct assault on Christianity. Yet another attack on religion and traditions by this administration,” he wrote.

Pointing out that the president’s announcement was intentional and a blatant disrespect to Christianity, Rep. Diana Harshbarger (R-TN) wrote, “This is a direct assault on Christianity. It’s evident the left is determined to undermine our religion and traditions. This isn’t just blatant disregard, it’s intentional.”

Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., also weighed in on the matter, writing, “This is the left’s new religion. They want people worshiping the trans flag instead of God. They must be stopped.”

The White House issued a statement on Friday, saying, “On Transgender Day of Visibility, we honor the extraordinary courage and contributions of transgender Americans and reaffirm our Nation’s commitment to forming a more perfect Union — where all people are created equal and treated equally throughout their lives.”

“Today, we send a message to all transgender Americans: You are loved. You are heard. You are understood. You belong. You are America, and my entire Administration and I have your back. NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH R. BIDEN JR., President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim March 31, 2024, as Transgender Day of Visibility,” the administration added.

While “Transgender Day of Visibility” has been observed on March 31 for years, the fact that it falls on Easter Sunday this year gave him a choice of not recognizing the transgender event.
