Kamala Harris’s Campaign Claims $200 Million In First-Week Windfall
Harris Campaign RAKES IN $200 MILLION
Within a week of President Biden withdrawing from the race, Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign amassed an incredible $200 million in funding, according to her staff.
In contrast, according to Federal Election Commission statistics, President Biden’s team raised $63.8 million during June, while Donald Trump’s team brought in $21.5 million.
Most importantly, the newly renamed Harris for President campaign asserted that first-time donors to the campaign during the 2024 cycle account for 66 percent of the donations received in the last week.
“Vice President Harris has been a candidate for less than a week, but she’s already coalesced the entire Democratic Party around her campaign and the organic, grassroots enthusiasm is producing results,” said Michael Tyler, the campaign’s communications director, in a memo.
Now, 100 days remain before election night on November 5.
The campaign also asserts that 2,300 events are being planned throughout the battleground states, and 170,000 new volunteers have joined the organization.
Following his lackluster performance in the debate against Donald Trump last month, there had been rumors that President Biden’s campaign was having trouble attracting donors. The 81-year-old Biden withdrew from the campaign last week.
As per the Federal Election Commission reports, Biden’s campaign had just less than $96 million in cash on hand at the end of June, while Trump’s campaign had $128 million.
Biden funds are not included in Harris’s $200 million total from last week, according to her campaign.
Even while the Biden campaign outspent Trump by almost six to one in June, the team was still down in the polls that month.
Following Biden’s withdrawal, Harris swiftly secured the backing of prominent Democrats and received an extraordinary historical endorsement.
She soon after became the presumed Democratic nominee for president after enough delegates declared their endorsement for her.
She needs to choose a running buddy right away. The rules committee of the Democratic National Committee decided to use a virtual roll call to formally select their nominee before the convention in Chicago the following month.
It is anticipated that the virtual roll call will occur during the first week of August.
Based on the most recent RealClearPolitics aggregate of a five-way race including the two and less well-liked candidates, Trump leads Harris by 1.8 percentage points nationwide.
In the email, Tyler also stated, “The fundamentals of this race—that this election will be very close and decided by a small number of voters in just a few states—and the momentum and energy for Vice President Harris are real.”
