Over 20 Shot In Weekend Shootings Across Chicago
Twenty one people were shot over the weekend from Feb. 23 to Feb. 25 across Chicago, police announced. Four of the 21 shootings were reportedly fatal.

Per ABC 7, the first reported fatal shooting happened on Sunday just after 3:30 p.m. in the 7300 block of North Rogers Avenue, where two armed assailants opened fire. Two men had been standing with two women when the assailants opened fire and one woman, a 19-year-old, was fatally hit.
The three others, a 22-year-old woman, a 20-year-old man and a 19-year-old man also got shot but survived their wounds as they were shot in the foot, forehead and hip respectively.
Earlier that morning, a 17-year-old boy was found shot in a room on the 18th floor of a downtown hotel at 40 E. Grand Ave. in River North. With a gunshot wound to the stomach, police said he was in a critical state.
At about 7:30 p.m., two adults and a 14-year-old child got shot and killed in a home in the 8000 block of South Vincennes Avenue, West Chatham, after an altercation escalated. Per CBS News; the child was identified as Amere P. Deese.
A fourth person was reportedly killed in the home but is in stable condition.
On the same evening, a man was shot in a vehicle in the city’s Gold Coast neighborhood as he traveled northbound on Clark Street just before 6 p.m. The victim got hit in his chest and grazed in the head. He survived the attack even though he was taken to Northwestern Hospital in serious condition.
The shooter was reportedly someone in a dark-colored vehicle also headed northbound on Clark.
Saturday also came with its share of troubles in the city as an attempted robbery suspect was shot by a customer carrying a firearm at a downtown Chicago jewelry store. The incident happened after the suspect entered the store just before 11 a.m. and tried to cart away some valuables before he was stopped by a shot from someone with a Concealed-Carry License and a FOID card.
After feeling the scene, the suspect was found and arrested by police who then took him to the hospital for treatments for his wound.
On Friday, a 37-year-old woman was shot while standing in a home on the city’s South Side. The shots had been fired from outside the home but pierced through a window and hit the woman in the leg. She was taken to the hospital and is reportedly in good condition.
