Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre Dismissed Concerns Over Biden Finishing His Term
WH Press Secretary DISMISSES Concerns
In her first public appearance since President Biden announced that he will withdraw from the contest for the presidency, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre dismissed any worries that may have been raised regarding the possibility of President Biden being able to complete his term.
During an appearance on “The View,” Jean-Pierre responded to calls from JD Vance, the vice presidential nominee of the Republican Party, for Biden to immediately resign from office.” I think that’s ridiculous, seriously,” her statement read. “Simply put, the president has made the decision to abstain from running for re-election. That is the only thing that he chose to do.”
It was revealed on Sunday that Biden will be withdrawing his candidacy for the office. In the most recent formal press briefing, which took place on July 15, Jean-Pierre was present with Alejandro Mayorkas, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. Mayorkas answered questions from reporters regarding the attempted assassination of former President Trump.
“He wants to continue to do the work, three and a half years of unprecedented, historic work,” she explained to reporters. “I believe that demonstrates what he is capable of accomplishing. My opinion is that this demonstrates how significant his leadership is.”
On Wednesday, President Biden will deliver a speech to the nation in which he will explain his decision to withdraw from the race, which was a result of weeks of pressure from prominent Democrats and liberal media allies.
“We have so much more work to do, and he understands that. He is going to speak to this in about 24 hours or so and he’ll lay that out, but this president is ready to continue to lead this country in a historic way, and that stands,” Jean-Pierre added.
During the conversation, co-host Sunny Hostin made a comparison between Joe Biden and George Washington. She stated that Washington also “showed this country how to step down and pass the baton,” referring to the fact that he limited his presidency to two terms and established a precedent. “So it’s very patriotic that the president stepped aside,” Hostin further explained.
