A Good Samaritan driving behind the Cybertruck witnessed the accident and managed to rescue one severely injured passenger. According to Piedmont Police Chief Jeremy Bowers, both the victims and the rescuer may have attended the same event earlier.
The accident claimed the lives of one young woman and two young men, while the lone survivor sustained serious burns and injuries requiring surgery and sedation.
Police investigations revealed the Cybertruck, weighing nearly 7,000 pounds and capable of reaching 60 mph in 2.6 seconds, likely crashed at high speed. The vehicle jumped a curb before becoming wedged between a cement wall and a tree.
The resulting fire proved too intense for emergency responders. Police Chief Bowers noted, “[T]he nature of the vehicle was a Cybertruck, and the heat was just too intense.”

Preliminary investigations found no mechanical failures. Fire Chief David Brannigan told KGO-TV, “Due to the quick nature of being able to suppress the fire, we don’t think the main lithium battery of the car were on fire. But that’s going to be determined as part of the investigation.”
Authorities continue investigating whether substances played a role in the tragic incident.
