Trump Slams Biden-Harris Admin Over Afghan Withdrawal

Former President Donald Trump criticized the Biden-Harris administration’s handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal on the third anniversary of the tragic deaths of 13 U.S. service members who were killed during the operation.

Trump addressed the National Guard Association in Detroit on Monday, following his attendance at a ceremony honoring the fallen soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery. Former Democratic congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, who has endorsed Trump’s campaign for the White House, joined him on stage in Detroit.

In his speech, Trump condemned President Joe Biden’s management of the Afghanistan withdrawal, particularly focusing on the terrorist attack at Kabul airport that claimed the lives of 13 U.S. service members. He described the event as the “most embarrassing day in the history of our country.”

“It gave us Russia going into Ukraine. It gave us the October 7 attack on Israel. It gave us lack of respect, we’re not respected. We were respected very much four years ago. We’re not respected now,” Trump said.

The former president vowed that there would be accountability for the Afghanistan withdrawal debacle if he were to return to the White House.

“We’ll get the resignations of every single senior official who touched the Afghanistan calamity to be on my desk at noon on inauguration day,” he pledged.

Gabbard, who represented Hawaii as a Democratic member of the U.S. House from 2019 to 2021, appeared on stage with Trump just days after Robert F. Kennedy Jr. suspended his independent presidential campaign and endorsed the former president.

“I am proud to stand here before you today, whether you’re a Democrat, Republican, or independent, if you love our country as I do, if you cherish peace and freedom as we do, I invite you to join me in doing all we can to save our country and elect President Donald J. Trump and send him back to the White House to do the tough work of saving our country and serving the people,” Gabbard said.

Trump brought Gabbard onto his debate preparation team after Vice President Kamala Harris took over President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign, following Biden’s withdrawal from the race last month after a weak showing in the first presidential debate. Gabbard’s prominence increased during her 2020 Democratic presidential primary run, where she gained attention for her sharp criticism of Harris.

Welcoming Gabbard to the stage, Trump described her as “very special.”

Trump has formed a coalition of disaffected Democrats and former Democrats who are backing his presidential campaign. This group includes notable figures like Gabbard and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., as well as high-profile entrepreneurs such as Elon Musk and Bill Ackman.
