Biden Finally Visiting Southern Border

President Joe Biden will be visiting the U.S. southern border this week. The White House announced his planned visit on Monday, revealing that he will be meeting with Border Patrol agents, law enforcement and local officials at Brownsville, Texas on Thursday.

Per a White House official who spoke to POLITICO, Biden’s visit at the border will see him “discuss the urgent need to pass the Senate bipartisan border security agreement, the toughest and fairest set of reforms to secure the border in decades.”

“He will reiterate his calls for Congressional Republicans to stop playing politics and to provide the funding needed for additional U.S. Border Patrol agents, more asylum officers, fentanyl detection technology and more,” the official stated, ignoring the fact that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and the Democrat-controlled Senate shot down a bill passed in the House last year that included stronger measures to secure the border.

The planned visit is scheduled for the same day former President Donald Trump was already scheduled to visit the border to survey the worsening situation as over 7.2 million illegal immigrants have poured into the U.S. since Biden took office.

The Trump campaign has questioned Biden’s intention for the visit, calling it a “last-minute, insincere attempt to chase President Trump to the border.”

A spokeswoman for Trump, Karoline Leavitt pointed out how he has had three years to visit the border and work out a solution to the problem caused by his open border policies.

“Now Biden’s handlers are sending him there on the same day as President Trump’s publicly reported trip, not because they actually want to solve the problem, but because they know Biden is losing terribly,” she stated.

The National Border Patrol Council has also blasted the president’s planned visit, saying it is “too little, too late.”

In a statement to Fox News Digital, the union highlighted how Biden repeatedly denied the crisis at the border amid pleas from numerous quarters calling for him to take action.

Chalking up the last-minute efforts to the upcoming elections, the statement read, “But even if he were to put the proper policies in place at this late hour, he’d be doing it only to try to save his Presidency. And self-serving actions when time is winding down should always give Americans pause. Common sense dictates that as a lame duck, he’d revert to his open border policies if re-elected.”
