Trump Supporters Flock To Republican Convention After His Near-Assassination
Two days after he was wounded by a sniper’s bullet, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump appeared at the GOP convention on Monday.
When the 78-year-old former president stepped onto a stage at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, his right ear was wrapped entirely in a bandage. His introduction was also met with Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless The USA.”
The former president punched into the air and issued several thumbs up as he took his place alongside running mate Senator JD Vance (R-OH) and family members near the front of the stage.
As the crowd roared Trump raised his fist in the air. Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL.), House Speaker Mike Johnson, and Tucker Carlson were all sitting close to Trump.
“Fight, fight, fight” the crowd chanted as Trump took his seat, a reference to the words mouthed by the former president on Saturday, moments after he was shot during a rally in Butler, Pa.
Trump listened intently as “Every Day Americans” Mark Laws and Benjamin Josephs delivered RNC speeches.
He also watched Amber Rose, a former stripper who was highly critical of Donald Trump in the past, comment on the president.
“He’s one tough SOB,” International Brotherhood of Teamsters union President Sean O’Brien said of Trump, during his remarks, as the GOP nominee listed on.
However, Melania Trump, eldest daughter Ivanka, and Jared Kushner were missing from the convention. The only family members in attendance were Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, and Tiffany Trump.
Just before the vote, Trump said on Truth Social that he had chosen JD Vance as his Vice President pick.
Trump himself has been in Milwaukee since Sunday, and had previously considered canceling the trip following his near-assassination at a rally this past weekend. In the end, Trump decided to stick to the schedule and show up for the American people.
