Will Hurd: Trump Defenders ‘Complicit In Endangering America’
Former Rep. Will Hurd (R-TX) is calling out those who remain supporters of former President Donald Trump amid his classified documents case, In a recent interview on “CNN Primetime,” the Republican presidential candidate expressed strong views about the case, stating that anyone defending former President Donald Trump’s actions in the case is “complicit in endangering America.”
During the interview, anchor Abby Phillip pointed out allegations from the indictment that Trump directed his aides to delete surveillance footage and server data to obstruct federal investigators. Hurd responded passionately, stating that deleting evidence indicates an awareness of committing a crime.
“Abby, I’ve never been indicted and I am not a lawyer, but if you are deleting evidence it is because you know you are committing a crime,” he stated.
“Anybody who supports this, anybody who defends this, is complicit in endangering America, endangering men and women putting themselves in harm’s way every single day and every single night in order for us to enjoy these freedoms,” he added.
Hurd went on to cast aspersions on Trump’s presidential bid, saying his motivations for running for president were concerning.
“Let me be clear about this, Donald Trump is not running for president to make America great again. Donald Trump is not running for president to defend our interests overseas. Donald Trump is not even running to represent the people that voted for him in 2016 and in 2020. Donald Trump is running for president in order for him to stay out of jail,” he stated.

According to Hurd, the allegations against Trump are serious accusations, as he said that he deemed the GOP frontrunner a national security risk.
Hurd, the only Black Republican in Congress, announced his candidacy to compete for the party’s 2024 presidential nomination last month. In a video announcing his candidacy, he tackled Trump, saying, “If we nominate a lawless, selfish, failed politician like Donald Trump – he lost the House, the Senate and the White House – we all know Joe Biden will win again.”
While Trump stands as the front-runner among the Republican candidates, Hurd’s campaign aims to present a contrasting vision for the party. He has voiced hopes that by focusing on timeless principles and the nation’s limitless potential, politics can be steered away from self-interest and towards the betterment of the American people.
