AOC Voices Worry That Trump Will Lock Her Up If He Wins

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) opposition to former President Donald Trump’s reelection bid is partly rooted in a fear that the Republican presidential candidate might put her in jail if he wins the election.

During an appearance on Kara Swisher’s podcast, “On with Kara Swisher,” Ocasio-Cortez pointed out that Trump’s entire 2016 campaign was built on a promise to lock former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton up.

According to the Democrat lawmaker, Trump could be expected to throw anyone who disagreed with him in jail if he gets reelected into the White House given his initial promise to lock Clinton up.

“I mean, it sounds nuts, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this guy threw me in jail. He’s out of his mind. I mean, he did his whole first campaign around ‘lock her up.’ This is his motto,” she stated.

She went further, adding, “I take him at his word when he says that he’s going to round up people. I take him at his word when he threatens journalists. I take him at his word. I feel like what we saw in his first presidency was an amuse-bouche to what his intentions are. He has learned from his mistakes of appointing professionals, and he will not make that mistake next time.”

Trump, however, has said that he does not intend to use the Department of Justice against his greatest political opponent, President Joe Biden, should he win the election in November.

Dismissing claims by Democrats that he would seek retribution and lock up people who go against him, the GOP presumptive nominee stated, “Number one, they’re wrong. It has to stop, because otherwise, we’re not going to have a country.”

“Look, when this election is over, based on what they’ve done, I would have every right to go after them, and it’s easy, because it’s Joe Biden and you see all the criminality, all of the money that’s going into the family and him, all of this money from China, from Russia, from Ukraine,” he added.
