Two Dead, Three Injured At Washington’s ‘Beyond Wonderland’ Concert

A shooting incident occurred at a campground near the renowned “Beyond Wonderland” electronic dance music festival in Washington on Saturday evening, leaving two people dead and three others injured. The incident took place at a campground located just a few hundred yards away from the festival venue, the Gorge Amphitheater.

Reports of an active shooter began circulating at approximately 8:25 p.m. while performances were ongoing, prompting immediate action from law enforcement authorities. An alert was issued at 8:47 p.m., urging individuals at the Gorge Amphitheater to find cover and offering guidance on how to respond if they encountered the assailant. In that case, people were advised to “run, hide or fight.”

By 9:17 p.m., a second alert informed the public that the shooter had been apprehended, providing a sense of relief amidst the chaos.

According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, Kyle Foreman, the shooter fired at random into the crowd before being taken into custody. The suspect himself was among the wounded, authorities said.

Despite the horrifying incident, the concert pressed on, as the Grant County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the suspect was in custody.

As investigations into the incident are still ongoing, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office has chosen not to disclose the identity, age, or motives of the shooter at this time. However, Fox3 sources stated that the suspect was targeting the staff.

The weapon or weapons used in the attack have also not been revealed, as authorities say they are essential pieces of evidence that will be disclosed at a later stage.

In response to the incident, the “Beyond Wonderland” festival organizers expressed their condolences to the victims and their families in a tweet, announcing the cancellation of the second day of the event.

“Due to the incident that took place in the overflow camping area last night, we regret to inform you that Day 2 of Beyond Wonderland at The Gorge has been cancelled. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the local authorities and staff who acted quickly to manage the situation,” the tweet read.

“Our heartfelt thoughts and condolences go out to the family, friends and all those affected by this tragic event,” the organizers said further.
