Two Dead, Four Wounded During Shooting At San Antonio Festival

Two people were killed after two men shot at each other at a festival in San Antonio just after midnight on Sunday. Four others sustained wounds in the incident.

According to ABC 7 Amarillo, police heard gunshots during Fiesta San Antonio at Market Square and responded to the scene. Upon arrival, they found two armed men, an 18-year-old and a 20-year-old.

The men tried to flee during which the 18-year-old reportedly shot at the 20-year-old. Police then shot at the 18-year-old. The 18-year-old reportedly died on the spot while the 20-year-old was transported to a hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.

San Antonio police chief Bill McManus shared details of the incident in a post to X, in which he wrote, “I’m on the scene of an OIS that occurred just before the end of the Market Square Fiesta event. The two individuals who were shooting at each other are deceased. “

“Four others received non-life threatening injuries. No officers were injured,” the police chief added.

Per ABC 7 Amarillo, McManus said that two of the four innocent bystanders that were shot were treated at the scene while two were taken to the hospital to get their wounds treated.

It is unclear whether police have determined what led to the shooting. The identities of the shooters are also yet to be known. All McManus said about them was: “The two individuals that were shot were young men. Both were armed and shooting at each other. There were two weapons recovered at the scene. One is next to the individual who is deceased on the scene. And then there’s another weapon where the other individual was shot – in a flower bed right next to him.”
