Trump Officially Backing Jim Jordan For House Speaker

As his name gets floated for the role, former President Donald Trump has officially endorsed Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) for the position of Speaker of the House following the ouster of Kevin McCarthy. This endorsement, made on Truth Social early Friday, solidifies Jordan’s standing as a

Trump’s endorsement highlighted Jordan’s impressive background, describing him as a “STAR” long before entering the political arena. He emphasized Jordan’s achievements in high school and college, where he excelled in wrestling and earned multiple championships. Jordan’s academic qualifications, including a master’s degree in Education from Ohio State University and a Law Degree from Capital University, were also noted.

One of the key points emphasized in Trump’s endorsement is Jordan’s strong stance on critical issues, including crime, border security and gun rights. He also has immense support for the military and veterans, according to Trump who expressed confidence that Jordan, along with his wife Polly and family, would be a “GREAT Speaker of the House.”

This “Complete & Total Endorsement” came as a surprise to some, as there had been speculation that Trump himself might consider running for the speakership role. However, with his support for Jordan, it appears that Trump is throwing his weight behind the Ohio representative as he focuses solely on his presidential run.

The news of Trump’s endorsement broke when Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) announced it, stating that he had a “great conversation” with the former President about the speakership.

Nehls, who had previously floated Trump as the man for the job, changed his stance and firmly voiced his support for Jordan, believing that “Congress should listen to the leader of our party.”

Jordan’s candidacy for Speaker of the House was confirmed shortly after Kevin McCarthy’s removal from the position. As House Judiciary Committee Chairman, he has been a prominent figure in the House Republicans’ efforts to investigate alleged corruption in the White House and within the Biden family.

So far, he has scored notable endorsements from fellow members of Congress, including Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-WY) and Rep. Bryon Donalds (R-FL). The other leading candidate, Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA), has also secured some solid endorsements as he quietly attempts to score more through one-on-one calls, per New York Times.
